Carmelita was born and raised in a small village out of the city of San Luis, Potosi, Mexico, 4th oldest of 12 brothers and sisters. She and her brothers and sisters had a big dreams to live and make a life in the United States. Carmelita migrated over to San Antonio in 1971 at 15 years old and worked in the service, hospitality, manufacturing and restaurant industry. Busing tables at her first restaurant was were it sparked her interested in the restaurant business, from washing dishes to cashiering were she learned how and what it took to make her dream a reality.
In 2002, Carmelita and her husband, Lazaro, took the leap of faith opened up there doors on Janurary 4, 2002. Fewer years later her youngest daughter, Jessica, joined the family business and the trio made Carmelita what it is today.
